Tendinopathy is usually used as another word for tendinitis.

Some medical professionals use tendinopathy to discribe accute or more severe tendinitis.

Under the latter definition when does tendinitis become tendinopathy

Severe inflammation of a tendon can be considered tendinopathy.
Tendinitis that you can't seem to get rid of is considered tendinopathy.
Recurring tendinitis is considered tendinopathy.
